Wikis are a great tool for collaboration that can be used in a professional community or with your students.
If you are interested in using or creating a wiki with your students, our county requires you to take a three week on-line courselette called Introduction to Wikis for Classroom Use. It is offered a couple times a year. You can sign up on ERO.
This course is designed for teachers and media specialists. During this courselette participants will investigate online safety and pedagogy related to developing a class wiki. Successful completion of this courselette is required for teachers who wish to use wikis with students. (O.2 APC Credit) (3 hours that span over 3 weeks)
* Wikispaces.com is the only approved wiki site that AACPS teachers may use to create a wiki. Wikispaces for teachers provides you with a wiki suitable for classroom use. It is advertisement free and you can customise the security settings so that you can determine who is allowed to view and edit your wiki space. You can also use wikispaces to create your own personal wiki.
